The Halal Guys Celebrate National Bean Day

We checked our calendars today and saw it was one of our favorite food holidays! While you might already be familiar with the delicious sides and The Halal Guys staples, we wanted to share a little more about the delicious bean to mark the day.

The Halal Guys utilize the chickpea (also known as the garbanzo bean) in its delicious hummus spread made from cooked, mashed chickpeas blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and garlic, making it a delicious snack on its own, or addition to any platter or sandwich. Like The Halal Guys founders, hummus has Egyptian roots with the earliest mention of it dating back to Egypt in the 13th century. From there, cultures all over the middle east and Mediterranean have taken the creamy dip and made it their own. With the ever-increasing popularity of the dish in the United States, The Halal Guys were excited to feature new takes on the dish in 2021 with flavors including eggplant, pesto, and lemon. We are excited to continue to bring new and exciting flavors of the dip in 2022 for you to try, so be on the lookout for future announcements and enjoy our current flavor, lemon hummus while it is still available!

Our deep-fried falafel is also made from ground chickpeas and mixed with a blend of herbs and spices for that crunchy, flavorful bite every time. The falafel can be traced all the way back to the port of Alexandria in Egypt, where it was first made with fava beans. Like hummus, many countries created their own take which led to the delicious chickpea-based falafel you order at your local The Halal Guys today. We have continued to take our customers’ feedback and have recently introduced a new and improved recipe of our popular falafel, so if you haven’t ordered it recently, now is the perfect time to branch out!
