The three original “The Halal Guys”: Muhammed Abouelenein, Ahmed Elsaka, and Abdelbaset Elsayed are the founding members of New York City’s legendary The Halal Guys street food cart. Immigrants to the United States from Egypt, they are a true American entrepreneurial success story.

From humble beginnings, the trio launched NYC’s first Halal food cart in 1990. Today, The Halal Guys is the #3 most reviewed eatery on Yelp in the entire United States! The founders are now building upon that success and popularity by growing their American Halal Food concept worldwide via a fast casual / quick serve restaurant format.

The Halal Guys’ founders, through hard work, overcoming barriers and dreaming big, are taking delicious American Halal Food mainstream. MIKE SPECK   COO

Mr. Speck is a 25 year restaurant operations and training veteran, whose most recent role was as VP of HR and Training for Qdoba Mexican Grill. Mr. Speck also has HR and Operations experience with brands like Cici’s Pizza, Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Boston Market and Einstein Bagels, and has served as a past chairman for the National Restaurant Association HR Executive Group.

HESHAM HEGAZY   Director of Brand Development

Mr. Hegazy has worked directly with The Halal Guys since 2011, previously acting as an outside consultant to the business and helping the brand with things like marketing, branding, press and trademarks.

JUAN BUSTAMANTE   Director of Training

Mr. Bustamante has worked with Boston Market since 1996, where he developed over 100 managers and was in charge of up to 30 restaurant locations as area manager.

ANDREW ECK   Director of Marketing

Mr. Eck had worked with Qdoba Mexican Grill since 2010, where he was the Regional Marketing Manager for the New York and Connecticut markets. While there he opened over 25 restaurants throughout the tristate area.
